Scottish Covenanters gathered for worship in the field

About Redeemer Church

We are a congregation of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian (ARP) Church, dedicated to the Great Commission and the glory of God in the New River Valley.

Our History

Founded in 2003, Redeemer Church began with a vision to plant a faithful, confessional church in the Blacksburg area. We began meeting in the community room of the Blacksburg Public Library for many years. As the Lord continued to provide the increase, we eventually outgrew the space and He provided a new church building for us in Christiansburg.

Since the beginning, we have remained a Reformed and Bible-believing church, deeply committed to God-centered worship, pursuing spiritual depth and maturity, bringing the Christian family together in love, and offering real hope through the sovereign power of God's grace. We are under the oversight of the Associate Reformed Synod.

As part of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian (ARP) Church, we trace our roots back to the historic Scottish Reformation, holding fast to the timeless truths of Scripture while seeking to apply them faithfully in our modern context.

There seems to be an expectation that churches should have a mission statement. We have none of our own, but Jesus gave the church this Great Commission.

The Great Commission

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."

— Matthew 28:19-20
